More School Crazy!

Here are the kid's Back to School pictures. I think this is the first year the photographer has given us (the parents) the option of buying a digital copy of the photos. Yeah!

School Daze

Since January, I've been scanning our old photo negatives into the computer. While working on this project, I rediscovered these photos of the kids standing in front of the door on the first day of school (we've done this every year since we moved to this house, so we started in Erin's kindergarten year) in 2001 - Miah's 2nd grade, and Erin's 1st grade year.

It is SO hard for me to contemplate how quickly the years have flown by. Look how much more of the door has to be included in the pictures these days! The kids are growing up so fast. Miah's in the 9th grade now, and Erin's in the 8th. I wonder how the kids will feel about having to stand in front of the door on their first days of college!

Another day... another rock concert!

Yesterday was the official Grand Opening of the Rock and Roll Academy. Six hours of music, cake and teenagers! It really was a blast... everything except the neighborhood calling the police a few times, and a handful of angry GROUCHY people coming over to complain about the noise. Sheesh! The kid's band (Depraved Indifference) played, as well as two other student bands (Class Act and Insanity Proj). The school owner's band (who's name I don't know! Gotta get on top of that) and the school director's band (The Glinting Gems) played also.

Everyone should come out to their next show... it'll be in costume! Of course, Erin's in 'costume' for every show... but I'm sure I'll be required to go all out for the Halloween show. Yes, her hair is a different color than it was last week. She's my little chameleon. I love that she is brave enough to try something different - often! We dressed Miah up too, can't you tell? We bought an AC/DC t-shirt... that was wild enough for him! How funny... my favorite thing about Erin is her constant change, and my favorite thing about Miah is his steadfastness. I certainly have the two extremes in my children. Mini Travis and mini Toni! Poor kids!

Eventually I'll add some video - as soon as I figure out HOW! I'm not going to confess to how long it takes me to add a post at this stage, because it would be too embarassing! I'm never opposed to pointers ;)

A Busy Day: Lagoon followed by a Rock Concert!

There are so many fun, exciting and CRAZY things going on in our lives right this minute. Topping the list last Saturday was a fun visit with Trav's sister, Heather (who is living in Utah while her husband, Jason, is in Afghanistan), our neice Madi, and cousins Amber and Marina. We spent the day playing at Lagoon. Poor Miah had to work, but we stopped in to visit him... and maybe tease a bit because he couldn't play with us! We even managed to kidnap Trav from his office for the day... which is saying a lot right now while he's in 'crunch time'.

As if a trip to Lagoon wasn't enough excitement for one day, we left in a hurry to run Miah and Erin to the Rock and Roll Academy (where they take music lessons) in time for their first concert in the building. These kids ROCK! I had to bribe Miah with scuba lessons to get him to sing backup vocals... but it worked! Erin sang on one song, and played the drums on the other. This Saturday will be the Academy's official Grand Opening. We're so overjoyed to have a school that's so close to our house, with the teachers we wanted!
